Prospective Students
IHOPU Student Affairs
Student Affairs is the pastoral wing of the university. Student Affairs serves to provoke, mentor, encourage, and steward the lives of the student body in learning the core values of the IHOP–KC Missions Base. We contend for students’ hearts to be awakened and engaged with the Man Christ Jesus, helping them flow in practical ministry in the power of Holy Spirit. Our desire is to provide a campus setting where students are engaged with the activity of the Lord, both corporately and individually. Our community life is built around the night and day prayer room on the IHOP–KC Missions Base.
IHOPU Campus
Our campuses are located in the quiet town of Grandview, Missouri, home of President Harry S. Truman. The entrance to his childhood farm is visible from the School of Ministry entrance. The Forerunner School of Ministry (FSM) building (also home to the Apostolic Missions School) is a 50,000 sq. ft. facility that is used for IHOP–KC conferences, the IHOPU student awakening services, and Forerunner Christian Fellowship. The Forerunner Music Academy building is located on Grandview Road, one mile north of FSM. The Birchwood Center houses the Justice Prayer Room, the IHOPU Library, and conference parking. The Red Bridge Center is the primary IHOP–KC campus and is home to the Global Prayer Room, Forerunner Bookstore, the business office, and various administrative offices. All of our facilities are located within a four-mile radius and are conveniently located close to shopping centers, restaurants, and beautiful parks.
A Spiritual Community
The International House of Prayer Missions Base seeks to be a community of believers who live out the two greatest commandments: to love God and to love one another (Matt. 22:37–39). IHOPU students are fully integrated into the community of the IHOP–KC Missions Base to help them live out these commandments daily. Students run alongside full-time intercessory missionaries, learning in an atmosphere specially geared toward cultivating the lives of intercessory missionaries in training. Back to top
Home Groups
These groups of students are led by IHOPU faculty and meet once a week to help build and strengthen community. We have established home groups with the intent of creating a place to develop practical life skills, provide pastoral care and accountability, and address the issues and challenges of daily life at IHOPU. Practical Ministry and Outreach
Outreach and ministry are important values of IHOPU and IHOP–KC; Jesus, who ever lives to make intercession, is the great evangelist. Ministry and evangelism are a natural outflow of spending long hours in prayer and communion with Jesus. Throughout each semester, our faculty and students participate in a number of different outreach and ministry efforts. Evangelism efforts may include the fall Halloween outreach, Thanksgiving outreach, and St. Patrick’s Day Parade outreach. Weekly evangelism efforts include Thursday night feeding of the homeless, Friday night evangelism teams, and planting Luke18 Project prayer groups on college and high school campuses. After completing one semester of IHOPU, students are allowed to participate in ministry teams (e.g., prophecy and healing teams) or participate on an IHOP–KC worship team. Each program of study offers practical ministry opportunities focusing on areas within the 500-mile radius of Kansas City. Back to top
Student Government Association
Student Government (SGA) is a student services-oriented group of current students who serve as a representation of the IHOPU student body. The purpose of SGA is to further the best interests of IHOPU students in matters affecting student life, such as events and activities, community conditions, communication, and connection to the vision and mission of IHOP–KC and IHOPU. This highly-active student services group organizes intramurals, job fairs, college visitation days, campus tours, monthly chapel services, and food bank ministry, in addition to overseeing communication forums such as the student newsletter and website. Campus Life
IHOPU offers various hot spots where you can access the Internet at broadband speeds with a wireless card, including the prayer room, the FSM complex, the IHOPU library, and more. In addition to wireless Internet available throughout the IHOP–KC campuses, Higher Grounds Café also offers wireless Internet. Located next door to IHOP–KC’s Global Prayer Room, this trendy café provides a place to socialize and hold study groups. Back to top
Gymnasium
A full-court gym affords the opportunity for intramurals as well as other sporting events. SGA hosts basketball intramurals throughout the year, and open gym times are available during the school year. The gymnasium is located in our FSM complex. Back to top

IHOPU Library
Our library is home to a computer lab and a growing body of reference material, including an extensive reference collection of commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, and concordances. For the students’ convenience, the library catalog can be viewed from lab computers or online. The library holds a reference room, a main general circulating collection, a magazine/media area, a group discussion room, a library café for study breaks, and a quiet study area, as well as large comfortable armchairs and beanbags for personal study or relaxation while reading. Housing
We currently do not have the facilities to house IHOPU students on campus, though IHOPU dormitories and family housing are projected to be available for students in the future. At this time, all IHOPU students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. You can secure housing by contacting our Herrnhut Apartments at housing@ihop.org or 816.763.4331. They will help you find housing at Herrnhut or refer you to other local apartments or rentals at discounted rates. If you are looking for a roommate, please email fsmhousing@ihop.org.
